4 Workers Injured in Enterprise Gas Line Explosion

A gas line explosion occurred in Martin County, Texas, on Tuesday, July 28, 2020, which injured four workers, according to a report. Three of them were taken to Martin County Hospital via private vehicle where they were treated and released, and another was airlifted to a hospital in Lubbock to be treated their severe burns.

During the time of the accident, a crew working for a ditching company was digging for a new pipeline near HWY 127 and D3800 in southern Martin County. According to Martin County Sheriff Brad Ingram, a ditching truck hit an existing high-pressure gas line causing an explosion.

The explosion sent a large plume of black smoke and flames into the sky. As a result of the accident, the fire quickly engulfed the ditching truck and injured four workers.

The gas line was operated and owned by Enterprise, who was able to access a shut-off valve in an isolated location when the fire was eventually brought under control a few hours after the blast.
