The Tragic Truck Accident in Lakewood, Colorado
On Thursday, April 25, 2019, the tragic accident occurred on Interstate 70 near Denver, Colorado. Around 4:50 PM, a truck driver plowed into stopped traffic hitting 28 vehicles; as a result, the driver failed to slow down to prevent the tragic accident. At least 10 people were taken to hospitals with unknown injuries, at least 4 of them were tragically killed.
The Texas truck driver, Rogel Lazaro Aguilera-Mederos, thought he was going to die and closed his eyes before his semi-truck slammed into stopped traffic, igniting a massive fatal fire in Lakewood, Colorado, authorities said.
Investigators say Aguilera-Mederos told them he was driving at 85 mph when the brakes failed. He allegedly tried to pull over to the shoulder to avoid stopped traffic but another semi had stopped there, an arrest affidavit shows.

Most truck accident victims do not realize the full scope of their losses. This is true in cases involving both severe injuries and wrongful death. Colorado law allows accident victims (including family members in fatal accidents) to recover not only their direct expenses but compensation for the physical and emotional effects of the crash as well. In many cases, this can result in substantial financial recovery.
